More Than a Game

Hear how ITG Music and sports can come together for unforgettable experiences

As March Madness approaches, we thought we’d take a moment to go back in time and highlight some of the work we’ve produced throughout the years for sports television.

From ESPN to Major League Baseball, In The Groove has been responsible for creating many of the themes and background cues you’ve heard during some of your favorite sports programs and channels.

The Iconic “Sportscenter” Theme

Back in 2002, In The Groove was tasked with recreating the score for ESPN’s flagship program, “SportsCenter.” ESPN, the world leader in action sports, challenged us to create a more contemporary and energetic feel to its SportsCenter brand while keeping the show’s familiar theme intact. You can hear what we came up with within the video below!

Another project we worked especially hard on was the creation of an all-encompassing ‘theme’ for CBS Sports. Producer Danny Burke composed, produced, and arranged this piece of music which found him ultimately flying to the Czech Republic to record with a full, live Orchestra. Check out this video below to get a behind the scenes look at the making of this theme for CBS Sports!

In 2015, in anticipation of March Madness, we were asked to write an original piece for the NCAA “Let’s Dance” initiative. Keith Martin, NCAA managing director of marketing and broadcast alliances, described the campaign as “a fun way to keep our basketball fans engaged during the regular season and it provides us with the opportunity to keep the basketball excitement and momentum going as we lead up to this year’s Men’s Final Four in Indianapolis.” See this fun campaign that includes the score we wrote in the video below.

Other programs In The Groove has worked on include Charles Barkley’s show “Listen Up!”, the Tour De France, ESPN U, Sports Nation, Major League Baseball, the Midwest Sports Network, the Twins Radio Broadcast, NCAA March Madness, and many more!

At In The Groove Music, each of these projects, as with every project we have the privilege of investing our creativity in, affords us the opportunity of honoring our ongoing mission; connecting people through sound.
